Childbirth Prep Class

We have our first childbirthing class from 6-9pm tonite at the North Austin Medical Center. Not sure what to expect, but here is the basic description:
"...classes give you insight into the birth philosophy of Dr. Thompson and staff, and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have ... you will learn details of the normal labor and delivery process, with an emphasis on a variety of breathing and relaxation techniques for labor"
I'm thinking that this class will make this whole experience become even more REAL, and ratchet up both the physical and mental preparation for Baby X.

The class was very interesting. First, a pediatrician gave a presentation on various conditions that the baby could be born with. The majority seemed to be skin conditions caused by the change in environment (swimming in placenta to oxygen rich air) that are actually not a big deal. Then our registered nurse, Kelly, gave a talk on what to expect between now and when we go home with the baby. We wrote down a bunch of useful information that I hope we remember ...
